PR/087213 | Senior Software Engineer

Position Summary

A global Japanese-affiliated company is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to develop and operate the backend systems that power device lifecycle operations, logistics, warehouse systems, internal tools, and marketplace platforms.

This role will contribute to backend development, infrastructure, DevOps, data integration, and production reliability, while collaborating with engineering teams in the U.S. and in Japan.
This is a hybrid role requiring the ability to commute to Long Island, NY.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Backend & Platform Development

Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs (Python / Go / TypeScript).
Build scalable, reliable systems supporting internal operations and platform functionality.
Contribute to system architecture and broader technical design decisions.

Infrastructure & DevOps

Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and other IaC tools.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
Manage cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Improve deployment workflows, reliability, and operational efficiency.
Implement monitoring, observability, and operational best practices.

Production Operations & Reliability

Support production systems including incident response, troubleshooting, and RCA.
Improve system reliability, scalability, and performance.
Drive automation and operational excellence across engineering.

Data & Infrastructure Integration

Design and maintain database schemas using PostgreSQL / CloudSQL.
Contribute to data platform integration involving BigQuery and internal data systems.
Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability across data services.

Collaboration & Engineering Excellence

Collaborate with product, operations, and engineering teams across the U.S. and Japan.
Improve engineering processes, standards, and platform capabilities.
Contribute to the adoption of modern development tools including AI-assisted tooling.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.

• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language:
  Python, Go, TypeScript, Java, etc.

• Experience with relational or NoSQL databases.

• Familiarity with Git and modern development workflows.

• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills.

• Ability to work hybrid and commute to the Long Island office.

• Business-level English proficiency.

Preferred

• Experience with:

  • GCP or AWS

  • Docker / Kubernetes

  • Modern frontend frameworks  (React / Next.js)

  • API / backend service development

  • Supporting production systems

  • Distributed or global team environments

  • AI-assisted development tools

     

• Business-level Japanese proficiency.

SALARY
$80,000- $150,000/year plus bonus
