A Japanese company that specializes in the development, manufacture, sale, and export of automation machinery, pneumatic control components, pneumatic auxiliary components, and fluid control components.

The company is looking for an Application Engineer / Custom Solutions Engineer(m/f/d)– Semiconductor Equipment Components to strengthen our ability to propose customized component solutions to semiconductor equipment manufacturers.
The engineer will work closely with Sales, joining customer visits and translating technical needs into concrete specifications, designs, and proposals.

Job Responsibilities

Key Missions (first 12 months)

• Lead requirement gathering and technical discussions with strategic accounts.
• Create concept designs and propose optimized or custom solutions based on customer needs.
• Build and standardize technical comparison materials and value‑proposition documents.
• Drive technical communication across internal engineering, production, and quality teams.

Main Responsibilities

• Conduct technical interviews with customers (environmental conditions, performance requirements, lifetime, TCO, etc.).
• Develop concept or basic designs for customized components.
• Prepare evaluation plans, coordinate prototypes, and analyze performance results.
• Support failure analysis (RCA) and lead improvement actions.
• Join customer visits with Sales and support the full proposal cycle.
• Establish and maintain technical documentation, standard design checklists, and guidelines.

Job Requirements
Must‑have

• Engineering background in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related fields.
• Experience in concept/baseline design or customization of components or modules.
• Customer-facing experience (technical discussions, requirement definition, proposal support).
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively in English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in semiconductor equipment components (vacuum, fluid control, actuators, sensors, etc.).
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Experience with reliability testing, FMEA, or failure analysis.
• German language skills.
