Job Description

The CAD Operator supports the design and development of custom industrial packaging solutions based on customer requirements and industry standards. Using CAD software such as SolidWorks, this role creates 3D models and 2D drawings while assisting with packaging specifications, BOM preparation, and document control.

In addition to drafting, the position collaborates with internal design and manufacturing teams and may support customer meetings, onsite measurements, and packaging validation activities. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills are essential.

There are opportunities to expand technical responsibilities and develop toward a Packaging Design Engineer role over time.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop customized industrial packaging solutions based on customer requirements and industry standards, including crates, wooden packaging, cushioning structures, and specialized packaging systems
• Create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks
• Prepare, update, and manage packaging specifications, including materials, dimensions, and tolerances
• Review and optimize existing designs with consideration for cost efficiency, manufacturability, and safety
• Conduct customer site visits for technical meetings, onsite inspections, and product measurements
• Collaborate with internal engineering and manufacturing teams through design reviews and cross-functional coordination
• Develop and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM)
• Support prototype fabrication and participate in packaging testing and validation activities
• Maintain proper documentation of design decisions, validation results, and engineering changes

The scope of responsibility will expand in line with experience and demonstrated capability.

Education/Knowledge/Skills/Experience Desired

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of professional work experience (industry and function not limited)
• Experience in CAD-based design or technical drafting
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications and reflect them accurately in design work
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required

Language Skills:

• Japanese: Native level
• English: Business level (reading, writing, and speaking)
