Cloud DevOps Engineer (Japan-Germany)

We’re looking for a Cloud / DevOps Engineer who loves the intersection of code, automation, and cloud infrastructure, someone whose DNA naturally treats reliability and security as the same. You’ll architect and operate highly available AWS environments, automate workflows from deployment to compliance, and help shape our DevOps culture.

Our company is a startup founded in 2023 by two CEOs who both come from major global automotive manufacturers. We focus on battery-related research and development, the provision of technical know-how, and consulting services for client companies.

With offices in Japan and Germany, we are building a diverse, international team. We operate as a global startup with two core business pillars:

Full-time employee
Probation period applies (no change in employment conditions during the probation period).

Annual salary: JPY 8,000,000 –  (Manager level, depending on experience and skills)

≪What you’ll do≫

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable AWS infrastructures using best practices.
• Create and manage Infrastructure as Code with Terraform for consistent, repeatable deployments.
• Engineer automated CI/CD pipelines with built-in testing, security scanning, and release controls.
• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and forensic strategies for business continuity.
• Lead efforts around GDPR, ISO 27001, and EU AI Act compliance through automation and documentation.
• Optimize cloud performance and costs through monitoring, metrics, and fine-tuning.
• Apply robust security principles across systems, code, and networks.
• Develop dashboards and alerting systems to drive visibility, reliability, and proactive operations.

≪What you’ll bring≫

• Proven experience as a Cloud, DevOps, or Platform Engineer in production environments.
• Deep AWS expertise with a strong grasp of services, architecture, and cost optimization.
• Advanced Terraform skills (modules, remote backends, state management).
• Strong background in Linux systems and scripting (Bash, Python).
• Solid understanding of security best practices in cloud and web environments.
• Experience working with ISO 27001 or comparable security and compliance frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with containers (Docker, EKS/ECS).
