We are hiring a Senior Java Backend Engineer (Tech Lead level) to design, develop, and operate large-scale web backend systems for a major e-commerce marketplace. You will lead system design decisions, guide engineering teams, and ensure high availability during peak traffic events.

Description

• Understand business priorities and deliver high-quality backend services under tight schedules
• Lead backend architecture design for high-traffic web systems
• Make technical decisions considering scalability, maintainability, and long-term service growth
• Lead design, development, testing, and release of new and existing backend features
• Guide engineering teams and resolve complex technical issues

Job Offer

• Compensation: Up to ~8M JPY (depending on experience)
• Long-term contract (initial 2 months, then 3-month renewals)

• Proven experience as a Technical Lead for high-traffic web systems
• 5+ years of Java backend development experience (Java + Spring Boot)
• Strong experience in REST API design, development, JUnit testing, and code reviews
• Production monitoring and troubleshooting experience
• Experience with Oracle or MySQL
• Experience using Tomcat or WebLogic
• Hands-on experience with Linux, Git, Gradle
• CI/CD experience using Jenkins or similar tools
• Experience using Docker and Kubernetes in system development
• Business-level English communication skills
