Data Management Lead / データマネジメントリード

The Scientific Computing and Data Analysis (SCDA) section, under the Core Facilities, promotes the effective use of centrally managed computing and data storage resources in OIST research environment. The SCDA manages OIST scientific computing resources and services, including data storage and campus network to support computationally intensive research studies, ranging from bioinformatics to computational physics.
Under the direction of the SCDA Leader, the data management lead gathers domain specific knowledge on data life cycle, formulates data management policies, monitors the development and use of data, and conducts training programs for the research data management (RDM) of OIST research activities. 

Responsibilities:

1. Gather specific knowledge on the life cycle of data directly or indirectly created and used in OIST research and related administrative activities.
2. Formulate data management policies and propose effective data management workflows and procedures to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.
3. Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with collaborators, external stakeholders and public open access.
4. Oversee and monitor the development and use of data systems across all aspects of research data management. Conduct monitoring and performance analysis to ensure safe and efficient data management and secure procedures.
5. Establish training programs that support researchers' adoption of research data management best practices as part of normative research practice. Then, conduct research data management seminars and workshops.
6. Provide upon request data and information for annual scientific reports for committees conducting investigations and other required OIST publication summary information.
7. Any other duties appropriate to the grading of the position.

科学計算・データ解析（SCDA）セクションは、コアファシリティの直下に配置され、OISTの研究環境における集中管理型計算資源及びデータストレージ資源の効果的な活用を推進します。SCDAは、バイオインフォマティクスから計算物理学に至る計算集約型研究を支援するため、データストレージやキャンパスネットワークを含むOISTの科学計算資源・サービスを管理しています。
SCDAリーダーの指揮のもと、データマネジメントスーパーリードはデータライフサイクルに関する分野特有の知見を収集し、データ管理方針を策定します。また、データの開発と利用状況を監視し、OISTの研究活動における研究データ管理（RDM）のための研修プログラムを実施します。

職務内容:

1. OISTの研究及び関連する管理活動において直接的・間接的に作成・利用されるデータのライフサイクルに関する具体的な知見の収集
2. データの適切性、正確性、正当性の確保を目的としたデータ管理方針の策定及び効果的なデータ管理ワークフロー・手順の提案
3. 共同研究者、外部関係者及び一般公開アクセスとのデータ共有に関する規則と手順の確立
4. 研究データ管理の全側面におけるデータシステムの開発と利用の監督・監視及び安全かつ効率的なデータ管理と確実な手順の確保を目的とした監視及びパフォーマンス分析の実施
5. 研究者の規範的な研究実践における研究データ管理のベストプラクティス採用を支援する研修プログラムの確立及び研究データ管理セミナー・ワークショップの実施
6. 調査委員会向けの年次科学報告書及びその他必要なOIST公開要約情報に関するリクエストに基づくデータと情報の提供

(Required)

1. Minimum 3 – 4 years' experience in data management projects in academic environment or similar positions
2. Able to work independently and as part of a team
3. Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate data-driven insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
4. Strong experience using data visualization software, database tools, and relevant programming languages
5. Knowledge of professional office software and good verbal and written communications skills in English
6. An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
7. Ability to develop positive working relationships and a strong rapport with team members
8. Ability to learn and apply new concepts, methods and practices

(Preferred)

1. Master's or PhD degree in a relevant field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
2. Experience in dealing with research data, as a researcher or a technician
3. Background knowledge and experience in statistics and statistical software packages
4. Experience working with local and cloud data storage
5. Good command of Japanese

8. 新しい概念、方法、実践を学び適用できる能力を有すること

1. データサイエンス、統計学、コンピュータサイエンス、または関連分野における修士号または博士号
2. 研究者または技術者として研究データを扱った経験
3. 統計学及び統計ソフトウェアパッケージに関する基礎知識と経験
4. ローカル・クラウドデータストレージの運用経験
5. 日本語の十分な運用能力
