【英語を活かす】リーガルカウンセル/ Legal Counsel

A renowned F&B and retail company is seeking a Legal Counsel. The selected candidate will provide legal guidance, ensure compliance with Japanese law, and support cross-functional teams across various business units.

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, compliance, employment, and IP matters
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts in Japanese and English, including franchise and vendor agreements
• Ensure compliance with relevant Japanese laws and regulations
• Support corporate governance, board meetings, and legal filings
• Advise HR on labour law compliance, employee disputes, and employment policies
• Manage trademark registration, enforcement, and franchise-related legal issues
• Lead dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation, litigation, and arbitration
• Liaise with government and regulatory authorities to maintain proactive compliance
• Identify legal risks and conduct internal legal and compliance training

Requirements:

• Law degree from a recognised Japanese university or foreign equivalent
• More than 6 years of relevant experience in-house or at a top-tier law firm
• in-depth legal experience in Japan's corporate legal environment
• Familiarity with franchising, retail operations, or consumer goods a strong advantage
• Possess a valid licence to practice law in Japan (Bengoshi)
• Fluent level written and verbal Japanese and English; Mandarin a plus
