Job Description:
Enfinity Global is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in grid connection for renewable energy projects, particularly focusing on the interconnection of Photovoltaic (PV) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). This role is based in Tokyo, Japan, and requires proficiency in both Japanese and English.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, technical analysis, and coordination of the connection process of renewable energy plants to the electrical grid, ensuring compliance with Japanese grid standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities:

• Interconnection (IX) Process Management:
  o Lead the end-to-end interconnection process with Japanese utilities, including application
• submission, contract negotiation, and compliance with local regulations (e.g., OCCTO requirements).
  o Engage directly with utilities, regulators, and stakeholders to resolve technical and procedural challenges.
• Design Oversight & Technical Guidance
  o Review and approve internal engineering / third-party consultants’ grid connection designs,
  drawings, and studies to ensure alignment with project goals and Japanese grid standards.
  o Define overarching architecture for IX infrastructure (e.g., substations, transmission lines).
• Interconnection Strategy Development
  o Advise on optimal grid connection points, considering capacity, cost, and curtailment risks.
  o Conduct or oversee curtailment assessments to mitigate revenue risks for PV/BESS projects.
• EPC Management for IX Infrastructure
  o Oversee detailed design, specifications, and construction of transmission lines (T-Line) and substations.
  o Manage procurement, equipment selection, and contractor performance during IX infrastructure deployment.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and timeline targets.
• Regulatory & Compliance Coordination
  o Secure permits and approvals while ensuring adherence to Japan’s grid codes, utility requirements, and energy policies.
  o Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving regulations and market practices.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the technical liaison between internal teams (project development, legal, finance) and external partners (consultants, EPC contractors, utilities)

  o 送電線 (T-Line) や変電所の詳細設計、仕様、建設を監督します。
  o インフラ展開中の調達、設備選定、および契約業者のパフォーマンスを管理します。
  o 安全性、品質、スケジュール目標の遵守を保証します。
• 規制＆コンプライアンス調整:
  o 日本のグリッドコード、電力会社要件、エネルギー政策に準拠しながら許可および承認を取得します。
  o 進化する規制および市場慣行について最新知識を維持します。
• クロスファンクショナルなコラボレーション:
  o 内部チーム（プロジェクト開発、法務、財務）と外部パートナー（コンサルタント、EPC契約業者、電力会社）間で技術的なリエゾン役を務めます。

Required Skills:

• Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in grid connection and electrical systems design, particularly with renewable energy projects such as PV and BESS
• Technical Skills:
  o Strong knowledge of Japanese grid codes and regulations.
  o Experience with simulation software for grid studies (e.g., PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP).
  o Familiarity with PV and BESS technologies, integration techniques, and control systems.
• Language Skills: Proficiency in both Japanese and English (written and spoken).
• Ability to interact with local authorities, utility companies, and international teams.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in electrical engineering or grid connection are a plus (e.g.,
  Professional Engineer certification).
• Experience working in Japan’s renewable energy sector, particularly with PV and BESS plants.
• Familiarity with Japanese utility companies, policies, and interconnection processes.
• Knowledge of energy storage systems and hybrid renewable systems.
