Commercial Product/Process Engineer

Job Description Summary

Provides research into specific applications such as improved quality of existing products, more cost-effective manufacturing processes, a new product line or new area of business.  Delivers the technology and process capability needed to operate, maintain and improve manufacturing operations.  Collaborates with the business and manufacturing teams to define process technology direction and programs to the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Identifies, assesses and develops new scientific concepts/technologies in basic or applied research with significant business impact.
• Collaborate seamlessly with quality and manufacturing teams to prepare small-volume and coordinate high-volume PCN (product change notification) samples.
• Provide technical insight and evaluate the capability of modified products and processes to meet quality specifications and control limits.
• Conduct risk assessment of PCN, identify and mitigate any risks associated with PCN batch or process.
• Implement preventative and corrective modifications to existing products and processes based on the findings of root cause analyses.
• Develop an understanding of the lithographic process.
• Interface between R&D, manufacturing, external contract facilities and customers as development engineering focal point.

Requirement

• Professional working proficiency in Japanese (JLPT N1) and at least limited working proficiency in English.

• Working well in multi-disciplinary, cross-geographic team

• Demonstrated hands-on abilities (not desk-work person, should positive and good at experiments, learn new knowledge of manufacturing)

• Driving license

Qualifications

• M.S. or higher degree in chemical engineering / chemistry / material science (B.S. with at least 3 years work experience is acceptable)
• Working experience in lithography business (preferred)
• Experience of leading cross-functional teams. (preferred)
• Knowledge of six-sigma, project management. (preferred)
• Knowledge of statistics, SPC and statistical design of experiments. (preferred)
