Division Function: 

The OIST Technology Development & Innovation Center (TDIC) promotes technology development through the ProofofConcept (POC) Program,an internal, competitive grant program that provides funding to OIST researchers to help bridge the gap between lab discoveries and commercial applications. The POC Program supports a wide range of activities, from applied research to establishing feasibility, developing prototypes, and exploring commercial scale up. TheProgram alsosupports individual fellowships for entrepreneurial-minded scientists. The goal of the POC Program is to develop technologies towards licensing to industry or startup companies and is a key part of the broader strategy at OIST to seed an innovation ecosystem in Okinawa that is linked to technology transfer, industry partnerships, and startup incubation.

TDICis seeking a Technology Development Specialist with a strong scientific background and experience in industry R&Dto manage technology development projectsfunded by the POC Program.

The ideal candidate will havestronginterest in fosteringthe effective transfer of cutting-edge technologiesto successful commercial development.They will also be a motivated and resourceful self-starter, able to identifyopportunities and build connections inside and outside ofa university setting. The candidate will be an adaptable team playerwith excellent interpersonal skills,able to work with the broader Centerto achieve IP protection and licensing, industry partnerships,and the establishment of an innovationecosystem around OIST.

OIST技術開発イノベーションセンター（TDIC）は、研究室での研究と実際の実用化間の差を埋めるためにOISTの研究者に資金を提供する内部競争的助成プログラムである概念実証（POC）プログラムを通じて技術開発を促進しています。POCプログラムでは、応用研究から実用性の確立、プロトタイプの開発、商業的な生産拡大の検討まで、幅広い活動を支援しています。また、起業家精神溢れる科学者を対象とした個人向けフェローシップの支援も行っています。POCプログラムの目的は、企業や 新興企業へのライセンス供与に向けた技術開発を行うことであり、技術移転、企業との提携、新興企業のインキュベーションにつながるイノベーション・エコシステムを沖縄に生み出すというOISTの幅広い戦略の重要な一翼を担っています。 

TDICでは、POCプログラムによる技術開発プロジェクトを管理する、科学的知識と研究開発の経験を豊富に持つ技術開発スペシャリストを募集しています。

Responsibilities

1. Work with OIST facultyand researchers to support the development ofinnovative technologies that havethepotential for commercialization.
2. Oversee projectbudgets in coordination with POC Program awardees.
3. Providesupport to POC Program awardeesin achieving technical milestones.
4. Effectively manage the application, review, implementation, and evaluation of POC projects.
5. Assist in negotiation ofagreements with industry, including NDAs, MTAs, Collaborative Research Agreements, and Licensing Agreements.
6. Manage relationships with consultants, contractors, vendors, and industrial partners.
7. Organize entrepreneurship training, mentoring, and otherprofessional development opportunities to support POC projects.
8. Work in coordinationwith other professionals in TDIC, including licensing and business development specialists,to identify and establish relationships withpotential industry collaborators, licensees,orinvestors.

4. POCプロジェクトの申請、審査、実施、評価を効果的に管理する。 
5. NDA、MTA、共同研究契約、ライセンス契約など、企業との契約交渉の支援。 
6. コンサルタント、請負業者、ベンダー、提携企業との取引関係を管理する。 
7. POCプロジェクトを支援するために、起業家研修、メンタリング、その他の専門的な能力開発の機会を提供する。 
8. ライセンシングやビジネス開発スペシャリストを含むTDICの他の専門家と連携し、可能性のある企業協業者、ライセンシー、または投資家を特定し、関係を構築すること。 

Qualifications

 (Required)

• PhD in physical sciences, engineering, or computer science or, 5 years of relevant research experience.
• Experience in project management, including planning, monitoring of budget and deliverables, and reporting.
• Business-level proficiency in English, including a high level of reading comprehension and writing skills for research documentation and research agreements.
• Effective communication skills to develop relationships between OIST researchers and industry partners in Japan and abroad.
• Excellent time management, teamwork, and organizational skills.
• 物理科学、工学、コンピュータサイエンスの博士号取得者、または5年以上の関連研究経験者。
• 計画立案、予算や成果物のモニタリング、報告など、プロジェクトマネジメントの経験。
• ビジネスレベルの英語力（高いレベルの読解力、研究文書や研究契約書などの作成能力を含む）。
• OISTの研究者と国内外の産業界のパートナーとの関係を構築するための効果的なコミュニケーションスキル。
• 優れた時間管理能力、チームワーク、組織力。

(Preferred)

• 2+years of experience in industrial R&D or product development in a company/startup.
• Business-level proficiency in Japanese, including a high level of reading comprehension and writing skills for research documentation and research agreements.
• Experience in technology transfer or business development.
• 企業/スタートアップでの産業用研究開発または製品開発の経験2年以上。
• ビジネスレベルの日本語能力（高い読解力、研究文書や研究契約書の作成能力を含む）。
• 技術移転や事業開発の経験をお持ちの方
