Summary
Carry out and assist in the development of new products, laboratory systems and software tools to meet the needs of internal and external customers. This requires a combination of laboratory and problem-solving skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage R&D projects and publish reports on the project testing and findings.
  • Understand the Halton R&D Process
  • Maintain up-to-date R&D project documentation on SharePoint and oversee laboratories and upgrades
  • Assisting in new patents on technologies and new innovative ideas and coordination with other research staff across Halton globally.
  • Ability to interact professionally with external customers on key projects
  • Coordination of customer visits and tours of the R&D facilities
  • Installation and configuration of prototype systems for laboratory testing.
  • Calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the work area, with work area being clean and organized at the end of each day.
  • Conducts test of new components, assemblies and systems based on test criteria as established by policies and procedures and/or written test plans; maintains accurate records of test results and reports results to appropriate group.
  • Conducts various performance test of the company’s product in accordance with test criteria established by policies and procedures and/or written test plans and maintain accurate records of test results and reports results to appropriate group.
  • Operates required machinery and equipment in a safe manner following established safety rules and reports unsafe acts or conditions to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs inspections and installation of parts and components on test product, maintains accurate records of the installation and the collection of test data.
  • Keeps immediate manager up to date on all on-going projects, with regards to project status, completion time projections and any problems that may have arisen during the project.

Project Management Responsibilities
The individual must be able to successfully manage the completion of projects from start
to finish. This includes the following aspects:

  • Work with the internal and external customers to define the project expectations and goals.
  • Prepare a project plan.
  • Manage other people working on the project which consists of:
    a. Planning and delegating tasks
    b. Training people where required
    c. Seeing they meet the required deadlines and deliverables
  • Work result oriented and independent.
  • Prepare a final report containing a description of the project, test methods used, results obtained and future suggestions.
  • Prepare presentations on the project results for customers and sales personnel.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to speak and read English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as testing and safety standards, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Experience and knowledge in AutoCAD drawing, SolidWorks and CFD simulation.
  • Ability to use Microsoft office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to speak effectively in front of groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Willing to travel on a regular basis.

Employment Type: Regular full time (Seisyain)
Probation Period: 6 months
Salary Payment: Monthly
Expected Base Salary: 300,000 yen a month
Expected Annual Salary range: 4.5M - 6.5M included bonuses and allowances
Incentive/Bonus: once a year
Salary Raise: once a year

Working/Break Time: 9:00-17:00 (lunch break 1 hour)
Overtime Allowance: 30-40 hours of overtime allowance is included in salary
Holidays:  Sat, Sun, National Holidays, Year-end through New Year holidays
Paid holidays: Start with 10 days, Effective on the 7th month
Commutation Allowance: Fully paid
