Job Description

The Japanese team is looking for a passionate, driven, and experienced IT professional to join our team as a Lead Developer. The IT department is responsible for supporting the business in becoming the World’s number one lead generation company. We do this by creating advanced technology-based products and handling the proper development and display of all our unique content.

SCOPE OF THE JOB:

  • As a leader at Catena Media, heading our development teams within our APAC region, your main responsibility will be to support and manage the multi-talents of our Internal development teams to reach periodically set goals and thereby Catena Media’s long-term goals. You will empower your team to perform to their highest potential. In addition, you will be responsible for recruiting and retaining the right talent by acting as a true role model following our core values. 

YOUR CHALLENGE:

  • As the Software Development Lead, you own a set of development teams focusing their expertise on different products, areas and verticals within Catena Media - APAC. These teams are responsible for delivering world-class technology sites and building cutting-edge features to make Catena Media the number one affiliate worldwide.
  • Represent APAC’s Development and its products to the organization. You are the voice of APAC’s Development inside and outside the company, sharing its work, evangelizing its success, and articulating its vision - making sure Development is crucial to its long-term success.
  • Working with the Group Head of Central Technology to set  short- and long-term strategies for the department and identify requirements for growth;
  • Instil a high-quality, product-centric engineering culture in all APAC Development teams;
  • Grow a positive value-based working environment and team spirit culture;
  • Manage the APAC technology development function, including development teams and the QA team.
  • Implement mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on all software development activities;
  • Accountable for the on-time and on-quality delivery of software development projects with APAC development;
  • Work closely with the Product Lead in the division to drive the general products’ vision following the company goals and KPIs;
  • Recruit, lead and mentor A-grade technical talent;
  • Identify and provide training to the team to foster the growth of individual and team capabilities;
  • Build a strong, collaborative communication framework between departments and global verticals;
  • Manifest an agile organisational structure which can react quickly to changes within the company and the industry;
  • Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisor's request.

Required Skills

TO DO IT, YOU WILL NEED:

  • A natural leader with proven experience in leading high-performance technology teams;
  • Experience in working with various development methodologies (agile/scrum/kanban) whilst following the ITILv4 framework;
  • A solid work ethic and professional attitude that will serve as an example to direct reports and teams;
  • A solid technical background, preferably with experience in a similar role;
  • Excellent communicator with good presentation skills and the ability to present to executive leadership when needed;
  • Ability to balance technical knowledge with business opportunity and ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audiences in a simple, structured way;
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills in both a technical and non-technical environment;
  • Bachelor and/or Masters's degree in a technology field;
  • Fluency in both English and Japanese is a must.
