Embedded Software Engineer

Summary
The Software Engineer position will be a member of Bose automotive software engineering team in Tokyo, Japan, serving for Automotive System Division (ASD) Japan customers. This position will be responsible for application software design and implementation, technical customer interfacing, and coordination across other functional teams. The Software Engineer will also be responsible for amplifier application software deliverables, production issue solution, including but not limited to embedded software design, implementation, and verification. The candidate is required to work effectively with Japan based automakers, flexible resource teams and other regional engineering teams. Fluent speaking and writing skill in both Japanese and English is a must for this position.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement embedded software features in automotive amplifier based on application requirements.
• Support Japan based customers on software issue reporting, requirement clarification, release schedule and production trouble shooting.
• Schedule and deliver the software release to customer on time with quality.
• Serve as first line of defense for software related production issues.
• Follow ASD software best practice and guide the team to exercise it.

Deliverable

• RFI/RFQ - Support functional level software requirements (e.g., diagnostics and networking) analysis.
• Planning - Schedule software FROP and release plan for customer.
• Design – Prepare detail level software design and component configuration.
• Implementation – Develop software features and resolve technical issues.
• Verification – Fix software defects under the help from software testing and integration teams.
• Delivery - Release software features to customer on schedule with quality.
• Product Support – Work closely with other teams to address software related production issues, such as 8D support.
• Communication – Understand technical challenges in detail and be able to discuss with customer and other Bose engineering teams effectively in Japanese and English.
• Coordination – Coordinate with DSP Algorithm, Platform and Quality SW Engineer to delivery software features. Coordinate with System Engineer, HW Engineer and Program Manager deliver AMP solution.
• Process – Support exercise of ASD software best practice

Experience

• Minimum 10 years Embedded Software programming experience
• Have strong software design and development skills and knowledge of software development process practices
• Customer facing experience is required
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to apply critical thinking
• Ability to work independently and multitask effectively
• Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills
• Automotive and audio industry experience is strongly preferred
