Job Description

Join Visual Alpha to disrupt the traditional investment management industry by using the latest technology of cloud and big data.

Visual Alpha is a B2B fintech startup based in central Tokyo that provides an innovative SaaS investment reporting data service to institutional investors and asset managers. We are currently hiring for a sales director role to lead on institutional sales. IT sales/consulting background is preferred, must be native Japanese but will also need to pitch to overseas in English. Under 35 years old.


  • Work for a fast growing B2B fintech startup to innovate investment management industry
  • Outreach to all players in the investment management industry domestically and globally
  • Solve one of the most challenging efficiency issues for the investment industry
  • Become one of the earliest members of a promising startup


  • Work with CEO to establish business strategy and growth plan for the company
  • Developing and executing strategic marketing and sales plan
  • Pitch to a broad range of clients including institutional asset owners (pensions, banks, insurances, endowments etc.), investment consultants, investment managers, trust banks and fund retailers in Japan and globally
  • Building and maintaining strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Assist CEO to manage day to day operation of the company

General Requirements

Minimum Experience Level Over 6 years
Career Level Mid Career
Minimum English Level Fluent (Amount Used: English usage about 50%)
Minimum Japanese Level Native
Minimum Education Level Bachelor's Degree
Visa Status Permission to work in Japan required

Required Skills

Required Skills

  • More than 5 years of institutional sales experience, meeting or exceeding targets
  • Be able to smoothly operate complex software systems and demonstrate to prospects
  • Strong knowledge of investment data analytics and investment reporting
  • Self-motivated, client-oriented thinking 
  • Native in Japanese, Fluent in English

Desired Skills

  • Familiar with investment analytics or performance calculation systems
        -  Such as Bloomberg, Factset, T-STAR, XNET etc.
  • Experience in software or data sales or support

Visual Alpha was founded in late 2019 in Tokyo, and currently has about 15 people including board directors and advisers. The company is backed by many influential leaders in the finance industry, including many partners, CEOs and presidents of international firms.
