OVERVIEW:

We are searching for an Account Manager / Sales Engineer for our Industrial Fluid Power and Power Transmission business. This person should have a strong sales track record, a collaborative style and able to operate effectively in a matrix environment to drive sales growth plans. THE ROLE

Key Account Manager for customers to promote Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems. This role will report to APAC Industrial Business Development leader (interim). Over time the job scope would expand to include executing sales plans to penetrate other Industrial power transmission markets.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The primary responsibility is to manage customer account, from sales, order management, delivery, and quality escalations. Additional responsibilities added over time would include working for Industrial Power transmission teams in executing direct sales plans to achieve committed outcomes.

The Account Manager / Sales Engineer, specific responsibilities will fall into three primary areas:

Accountability #1: (Primary responsibility – Fluid Power Account Manager), based in Murata, Osaka

  • Own and manage Caterpillar Japan (Sales, Order Management, Quality, Cost and Delivery)
  • Manage local assembly supplier (Murata) to support Caterpillar
  • Manage communication between Caterpillar, Murata, Gates local, regional, and global teams

Accountability #2: (after six months – Power Transmission Industrial sales engineer), based in Nara

  • Lead sales engagements for new Industrial Power Transmission segments assigned
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of assigned Industrial market trends and competitive landscape
  • Lead demand generation, direct sales, and marketing activities

Accountability #3: (after six months –Power Transmission Industrial sales engineer), based in Nara

  • To develop strategy for share of wallet gain in assigned accounts or segment
  • Develop application expertise for direct selling to key stakeholders and influencers
  • Build and sustain relationships up to and including key C-level executives for key custome

Required Skills

KEYS TO SUCCESS:

Manage Caterpillar Japan successfully and to ensure we are their best supplier in Japan. Be able to take on new assignments, learn new products and applications for power transmission business. Accountable and able to operate independently to manage customer, partner expectation.

  • Effective account management and results orientated.
  • Able to coordinate, align, influence externally and internally stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and planning with strong commercial acumen.
  • Develop standardize proposal packages and value proposition
  • Able to lead new sales engagements with systems selling approach.
  • Able to adapt and learn new product and applications.
  • Drive sales volume and market share growth on assigned sales accounts or territory.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS: 

This person must have at least 3 to 5 years hands on experience supporting aggressive expansion plans in Japan. Must have hands on direct selling in Japan markets and be able to work independently.  

  • Mechanical engineer with 3 to 5 years of hydraulic fluid power product experience
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years related experience in enterprise sales and/or account management
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal (English and Japanese)
  • Key account sales planning and sales engagement
  • Previous major account selling experience required
