Job Description

Essential Function Description

The PV Engineer will work on a wide range of PV plant projects throughout their lifecycle, providing the technical leadership and support needed to enable project success. While there will be a focus on the purchase of development projects and operational assets, activities will also include projects under development, construction, and operation. The PV Engineer will frequently and proactively interact with internal and external counterparties to achieve results and will be a key contributor in activities that drive our future competitiveness.

The PV Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Leading, coordinating, and supporting technical due diligence activities for new and existing projects
  • Providing and coordinating technical support for projects working together with other Sonnedix functions and external consultants
  • Reviewing, analyzing, optimizing and reporting on technical deliverables provided by counterparties
  • Conducting and reporting on project site visits
  • Conducting irradiation and yield assessments using simulation tools (e.g. PVSyst) to assess plant performance
  • Supporting the onboarding and integration of new projects into the portfolio
  • Liaising directly with counterparties to support activities
  • Participating in meetings with various counterparties to promote project understanding
  • Investigating, researching, reporting and presenting on solar-related technologies and regulations
  • Setting technical requirements for the design, build, and operation of projects 
  • Establishing and maintaining a strong industry network to promote the company’s activities
  • Working together with cross-functional global teams to improve competitiveness
  • Supporting and participating in ESG activities initiated by the company

Required Skills

Key Competencies

Technical

  • Bachelor of Science or related degree with focus on electrical, civil, mechanical or similar
  • 3 years or more experience in the solar industry in the role of PV Engineer or similar
  • Solid understanding of the main development, design, and construction concepts of solar projects
  • Advanced capabilities in MS Office applications

Non-Technical

  • Positive energy towards project challenges as well as learning and adapting to business dynamics
  • Owner’s mentality in taking responsibility for deliverables
  • One team approach working constructively with domestic and international counterparties
  • Do the right thing to support the company in becoming more competitive and achieving results

  • The candidate must be able to travel, drive a car, and walk around and within project sites

  • Travel will be required for this role, on average up to 30% of the time

Required Education and Experience

  • Education – Bachelor of Science Degree or similar in a technical discipline
