慌てないで
乗馬用や馬車の馬の手綱を引っ張って止める様子から、”hold your horses”は「慌てないで待って」という意味で使われています。
何か急いで決めようとしている人に向かって、しばしば使われるイディオムです。”hold on”と同義語です。
Dan: Good morning Masa, we got a confirmation email to have meeting with that client you found for us last week.
（マサおはよう。先週君が見つけたクライアントとのミーティングが確定したメールが届いたよ。）
Masa: Oh really, great! I’ll print out the documents and then we’ll be ready to go.
（本当ですか、よかった！書類を印刷しますので、そしたら出発できますよ。）
Dan: Hold your horses, first research all the information you can find on their business development then report to me by 10:30 am.
（慌てないで！まず彼らの事業の動向に関してできるだけ調査して、午前10:30までに僕に報告して。）
Masa: Of course, I’ll have that ready for you.
（もちろん、準備します。）
Dan: Good.
