Please upgrade your browser to the latest version to experience the site as it was intended.
What is RSS?
RSS stands for ’Real Simple Syndication’. Put plainly, it allows you to subscribe to content you are interested in and have any updates delivered directly to your news reader (or client) of choice.
How do I start using RSS feeds?
In general, the first thing you need is something called a ‘news reader’. There are many different versions, some of which are accessed using a browser, and some of which are downloadable applications. All allow you to display and subscribe to the RSS feeds you want. Some examples of free online news readers can be found at: “http://reader.google.com” or “http://www.bloglines.com/”. Most modern email clients such as Outlook and Thunderbird also support RSS feeds. For news reader applications, check out NewzCrawler (http://www.newzcrawler.com/), FeedDemon (http://www.feeddemon.com) or NewsFire (http://www.newsfirerss.com/).
Once you have chosen a news reader, all you have to do is to decide what content you want. For example, if you would like the latest jobs from CareerCross, simply visit the website and you will notice an orange RSS button on the bottom of the page. If you click on the button you can subscribe to the feed in various ways, including by dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.
New browsers, including Firefox, IE7, Opera and Safari, have functionality which can automatically pick up RSS feeds for you. For more details on these functions, please check their help.
Can I use CareerCross RSS feeds on my website?
We encourage the use of CareerCross Job RSS feeds as part of your website. However, we do require that the proper format and attribution is used when CareerCross content appears.
