TGA Inc. was established in 1985, a pioneer in the relocation service industry supporting foreign corporations. The office is located in Roppongi, the heart of the foreign community, and has supported inter-company transferees for many years. Relocation Service has the purpose of helping people settle into their new lifestyle quickly so that they can give their undivided attention to their work. For foreign business people working in Japan , of course there are language and cultural differences as well as changes in family lifestyle that can cause stress. In addition, it’s necessary to deal with confusing administrative paperwork related to visa applications and real estate matters. Our company works to resolve these issues and also provides cultural adaptation programs. Having been in business for more than 20 years, our knowledge and know-how that other companies do not have is used to provide a high level of service.
In addition to relocation consultants, we are looking for staff with strong English ability.
Even now, there is an increasing number of foreign companies in Japan , and we are looking for staff that can handle the demands. The positions are Relocation Consultant, and the first step to becoming Consultant, Relocation Coordinator. Relocation Consultants grasp the changing needs of Human Resources departments at client companies while managing all aspects of relocation.
Relocation Coordinators communicate with client families directly in providing daily life and problem-solving support. Both positions require business level English ability, an understanding of lifestyle overseas as well as Japanese culture, and problem-solving communication abilities. As the president of TGA Inc., Tomoko Takata, states, “Living in Japan does not mean just being concerned about housing, but also about education, medical issues, and other issues that arise. It’s impossible to have a deep understanding of and be informed about everything. However, it has become important to have an interest in a wide range of topics regarding lifestyles, and to have the knowledge and common sense to speak about a wide range of fields.”
In addition, TGA is also looking for Maintenance Coordination Service/Property Management Assistants. Maintenance Coordination Service entails handling residential property-related problems over the phone. From house repairs to broken appliances, repair arrangements are made to solve the problem. Among the appliances in question are also foreign-made appliances, so it is necessary to have knowledge of the operation of such “hardware”. A Property Management Assistant would deal with management of foreign investment properties, making reports in English and Japanese.
The common skill needed for all four positions is English conversation ability, particularly listening ability. On top of those English skills, the more personal experience and knowledge you have, the more substantial your skills for the job.
From the person in charge
As for the work history of those who are interested in these positions, most likely there are not a lot of people with relocation service industry experience. Even with a long history of living overseas or superior English skills, it is also necessary to have a wide range of interest and knowledge in Japanese culture and lifestyle. For example, knowledge of the foreign community in Japan , how many English-speaking doctors there are---it’s an environment with almost no information. However, while doing work at this company, you’ll amass such information on your own. The next step is to figure out how to solve a problem. In any case, you’ll be able to solve all problems through good communication skills. And, you will receive a “thank you” in the end. That is the appeal of working at TGA Inc.
