Job Description

The DBA and BI Engineer has two main objectives: 1) ensure the stability, integrity, and security of Japan’s SQL databases and 2) support the implementation of reporting, business intelligence, and data warehousing solutions to meet growing business data requirements. The DBA and BI Engineer will install, monitor, maintain, optimize and troubleshoot all databases, ETL, and reporting systems. This individual will work closely with the business to determine requirements for analytical data and reports and implement solutions using warehousing, business intelligent tools, and reporting systems as required. This individual will also analyze and resolve database and reporting software and application problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. As part of a global team, the individual will design, deploy and operate the technology to global standards as well as participate in standards development. Some support of Asia-wide systems in Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong may also be required.

Qualifications
* University degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
* Certifications such as MCSA and VPC are desired.
* Bi-lingual Japanese and English.
* Proven experience and success with server and storage design to support high-volume transactional applications.
* Technical expertise in:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005
- Data warehousing techniques
- ETL tools such as SSIS.
- Reporting systems such as BOE and WEBI
- Replication approaches using log shipping, transactional replication and others.
- Database monitoring and performance analysis solutions
- Developing and analyzing stored procedures for efficiency
- High Availability design using Veritas clustering or similar solutions
- Administration and troubleshooting of application components such as IIS, .Net framework, database connectivity, and similar systems
- Knowledge of process frameworks such as MSF and ITIL
