
Key responsibilities
Provide systems development and technology support for Global Active Strategy group’s fund management processes. Work closely with users to understand requirements and operating environment, and determine appropriate solutions.
・ Ongoing integration of GAS (Global Active Strategy) business processes into BGI’s global technology architecture, known as “The Common Platform” that forms the core of BGI suite of application. This would involve working with Sybase database and Visual Basic 6.0 Client. Later the main application in this area will migrate to a Java application.
・ EUC support to the Portfolio Managers of this group. This would involve supporting the existing EUC applications (VBA) and migrating the same on to strategic platforms.
・ Work with users to maintain list of IT requests / issues. Perform IT support and development activities on those issues and report regularly, concisely and accurately on progress. A successful candidate should demonstrate attention to detail, strong critical reasoning skills, a good work ethic, and the ability to deliver
・ Liaise closely with Global Technology teams to find the best solutions and ensure they are implemented in a manner consistent with global service delivery and taking account of global users’ needs. Look for ways to deliver back to the global technology community as well as leveraging it to solve local problems.
・ Provide production support to the GAS business, working as part of a small team to look after their regular day-to-day and any out-of-hours needs and activities as necessary.
Skills and Experience Desired
・ Primary Technical skills: Strong 3-5 years experience on Visual Basic in an Enterprise Environment; VBA, and
SQL (Sybase Preferred).
・ Secondary Skills: Java and web technology (J2EE)
・ Other technical Competencies: Strong computing background with experience on complete SLDC and
Architecture principles and patterns.
・ Other Competencies: Strong inter-personal and communication skills. Passion for solving investment business
problems through the use of technology. Strong critical reasoning skills. Detail-oriented approach to solving
problems. Enthusiasm for learning. Should speak fluent English. Business Japanese would be a plus.
・ Functional Competency: Understanding of and experience in Financial market and Investment vehicles,
・ preferably with an emphasis on the Asset Management business.
