Job Description
Job Title: Junior Engineer (Java)
Department: Custom Development
Location: Tokyo
Reports to: Director, Consulting Services
Position Summary:
We are looking for a Junior Java Developer who is willing to work hard, learn and embrace the company culture and learn its project management methodologies. You will be responsible for the high-quality code implementations of designs made by a senior consultant. You are expected to master Java design and coding best practices, learn essential tools and dedicated programming languages from vendors such as SAP, and grow into a senior consultant role within 2-3 years.
You will be provided coaching through outstanding professionals but does expect an independent self-starter. You should be looking forward to work under high pressure and be confident to be able to positively surprise us periodically despite our already high-expectations. In turn, you will be equip you with all the necessary problem-solving, self management and customer management skills to excel globally in any top-rated software services organization - just like the ones that are our customers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work at customer site or the office
• Detail design of software components
• High-quality coding of software components
• Quality assurance of own code
• Code documentation
• Requirements hearing and clarification at customer site
• Presentation of results at customer site
• Self-study and learning of tools required in projects
Qualifications:
• Completed education from a renowned institution
• Proven Java programming skills (minimum 2-3 years)
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while keeping colleagues informed and raising issues timely
• UI development experience (HTML and/or Adobe Flex/Air)
• Database setup, administration and SQL experience
• SAP experience (not required but a clear advantage)
Communication & Interpersonal Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to understand instructions and independently ask for clarifications
• Demonstrated ability to compose clear and concise emails, documentation and presentations
• Ability to present work results at customer site
• Ability to hold colleagues accountable and provide constructive feedback
• Ability to accept criticism Language Requirements:
• Japanese (native or equivalent)
• English (business communication)
Other Requirements:
• Valid work visa for Japan
