I. BASIC FUNCTION:

Reporting to CFO, Finance. The Financial Controller is a key member of the finance management team, both in directing management & statutory financial reporting and internal control functions.The Controller covers the following areas:

· Accounting and Financial Reporting
· Treasury and tax reporting
· Internal control management
· Audit



II. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working with financial planning manager and supervising accounting staff members, Controller is responsible for:

 Accurate and timely financial reporting process (Monthly, Quarterly, and Year end close) for the company entities pre/post merger.
 Working with IS manager, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of recently implemented financial systems.
 Treasury management in forecasting monthly cash flow and requesting inter-company fund transfer to meet working capital requirements.
 Supporting financial planning team in annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and revenue & cost analyses by providing timely actual financial information.
 Implementing and maintaining controls that support financial goals, ensuring compliance and best practices in place in line with company policies and Sarbanes-Oxley
 Provide leadership and in managing and developing accounting staff that is motivated, competent and efficient (cross-trained).




III. CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED: The company is a US global media company listed in the NY stock exchange requiring timely and accurate financial information disclosure and strict compliance with all the related requlations. High quality monthly, quarterly, and annual reportings are required to be submitted to HQ in very limited time frame for consolidation. Global introduction of new financial tools requires a patient, methodical approach to exploit their potential for creative & time sensitive reporting for effective business management.

V. SKILL REQUIREMENTS
A. Technical Skills: Extensive and varied Finance skills including financial closing per USGAAP, Audit, Tax, Financial Planning, P & L Management, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Internal Control, SOX compliance, Sales Compensation.
Experience reporting through a global consolidating package such as Hyperion is critical.

Languages- Native Japanese, fluency in English communication both in writing and speaking.
B. Experience:
Five years plus experience in Financial reporting management, especially financial closing per US GAAP as manager or above in international company. Proven management skills including people management and work process management.
Experience working in a fast paced, multicultural and time sensitive environment.


C. Education: CPA preferred, 4 year college degree required in Business or Finance.
