Due to the reorganization on our client’s information services department, this will be a key role within the company and effecting a variety of operational functions within the Japan organization. The general premise of the position is to:

- Proactively influence the business with innovative information technology ideas and programs.
- Map out short and mid solution portfolio, ensuring the alignment with company priorities.
- Driving projects and deliver optimized solutions.

This position can best be described as a project manager role and will not have direct reports. However, depending on the assignment, the incumbent will manage and oversea project teams ranging upwards to 20+ persons (internal/external; local/overseas).

For each assignment, the project manager will be responsible for leading the initial study/research of the feasibility for the desired business objectives. This will include conducting surveys both internally and externally to gauge level of interest and capabilities to achieve end results. Working closely with overseas offices, pilot test studies will be initiated over 2-3 month period with results analyzed and confirmed before rolling out various programs throughout the entire Japan organization. On average, each project is estimated take between 1-2 years to complete.

As a new strategic position within the organization, the IT Business Solutions Project Manager carries a lot of responsibilities and will require a high level IT professional to execute smoothly. At least 10+ years experience in IT management within a large scale manufacturer OR IT consulting firm is required. The incumbent will need to have excellent project management skills and the ability to lead global projects and projects teams consisting between 10~20 persons (both internal and external). Also, he/she must have the ability to effectively explain and convey complex technical IT issues to non-technical oriented executives and top management. Interested persons should also have large scale budget management experience. Business level English is required in addition to fluent/native level Japanese.
