The Company is a global leader in the Medical/Surgical equipment industry. The company also has a successful line of consumer-oriented products. The company has over 10 sales offices in Japan employing more than 300 people. The company is on track to experience exponential growth.

Based in Tokyo, the Director of Finance will report to the country manager as well as a US-based controller. The successful candidate is to combine strong leadership with a hands-on approach, developing and furthering accounting and financial best practices. The Director of Finance will oversee all accounting functions: GL, AP, AR, Cash Inventory and Expenses. Each of these areas is being handled by a dedicated team member, in some cases complemented by an assistant. The department has 14 staff members.

Must-haves

(1) Minimum 10 years of US GAAP experience,including reconciliation of JGAAP statutory accounting data,in companies that produce tangible goods.

(2) Demonstrated strong financial analysis and planning skills

(3) Has managed at least five staff for at least three years

(4) Demonstrated leadership and change management track record

(5) Good command of English and Japanese

Strongly Desired:

(6) Minimum 3 years of auditing experience

(7) Good understanding of financial controls

(8) Familiarity with an ERP system, preferably SAP

(9) Familiarity with SOX404

(10) Effective presenter and proactive communicator

Desirable

(11) Certified as a finance professional, e.g. CPA, CA or equivalent
