
The Systems Operations Engineer is to ensure the stability, integrity, and security of Japan’s servers, storage area systems, and applications. The Systems Operations Engineer will install, monitor, maintain, optimize and troubleshoot all server hardware, operating system, management software and provide application installation and operations. This individual will also analyze and resolve server hardware, operating system software and application problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required. As part of a global team, the individual will design, deploy and operate the server, storage, and application infrastructure according to global standards as well as participate in standards development. Some support of Asia-wide systems in Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong may also be required.
Qualifications
* University degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
* Certifications such as MSCE and VPC are desired.
* Bi-lingual Japanese and English.
* Proven experience and success with server and storage design to support high-volume transactional applications.
* Technical expertise in:
- Windows server (2000 and 2003)
- Windows infrastructure (Active Directory and domain services)
- VMWare and Virtual Center (highly desired)
- Storage area networks such as EMC’s CX series and Cisco or Brocade SAN switches
- Backup solutions such as Legato
- System monitoring solutions
- Storage replication systems such as Mirrorview, Recoverpoint or others suitable for long distance disaster recovery.
- Automated provisioning and management tools such as Altiris and Big Fix
- Transport and naming protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
- High Availability design using Veritas clustering or similar solutions
- Administration and troubleshooting of application components such as IIS, .Net framework, database connectivity, and similar systems
- Server VLAN design
- Programming and scripting languages such as PERL
- Knowledge of process frameworks such as MSF and ITIL
