This position involves managing the day-to-day operational aspects of the Become-Japan shopping search engine. These operational tasks include carrying out daily off-line computations, as well as ensuring that the results of these computations are successfully updated to the live website.
These tasks involve managing C++ and Java codes run on a distributed architecture of servers via scripts, as well as the management of mysql databases.

* comfortable working in a distributed Linux/Unix environment.
* experience of using shell scripting, crontab, make, and similar commands.
* familiarity with commonly used web-related languages and formats:
html, xml, jsp.
* experience in managing mysql databases.
* programming skills in C++, Java, or PHP would be considered a plus.
* Japanese language skills and familiarity with CJK encodings are also considered a plus.
