Principle Responsibilities

1. Work with developers/business teams to design, support and implement infrastructure in support of application solutions.

2. Participate in designing and implementing new technology solutions to meet specific business needs.

3. Continually evaluate the operations of the environment, and assist in the optimization and delivery of server infrastructure improvements.

4. Work with the PMO to define projects and report on the status.

5. Conduct performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure the smooth operation of infrastructure supporting production applications.

6. Develop metrics, reports and status on the infrastructure and present it to both management and clients on a periodic basis.
Document processes and procedures and maintain operational runbooks.

7. Works under general direction from management.

Experience/Skills

1. Minimum of 8-10 years of support of the UNIX environment.
Knowledge of Solaris 2.8, 2.6 and Red Hat Linux 3.x and 4.x environments.

2. Solid understanding of NIS, DNS, NFS, automounter and Jumpstart.

3. Knowledge of ODS, LVM, MDADM, VERITAS, RAID concepts.


Understanding of network topology, and work closely with our network infrastructure group to resolve any type of network related problems as need it.

4. The candidate should be able to work on server/client environments, interface with clients and create project plans for the delivery of solutions.

5. Ability to participate in meeting with clients and introduce new ideas to the table should the need arise.

6. Able to work on a heterogeneous environment that includes Windows XP, NetApps and different flavors of the UNIX operating system.
