Our client, a leading E-commerce company is seeking a Software Development Test Engineer for their Tokyo branch. The Software Development Test Engineer will be responsible for developing mobile e-commerce applications that not only leverage the company’s existing e-commerce platform but extend it to take advantage of some of the unique characteristics of the Japanese mobile phone market. Responsibilities also include developing new features for the mobile website working with the business owners on requirements definition.

・ Ensure quality of new feature releases (by writing automated tests, etc.) - (30%)
・ Improve existing test coverage by writing additional automated tests - (20%)
・ Extend the test framework and improve the overall QA process - (20%)
・ Deploy the code to the worldwide mobile websites - (15%)
・ QA on actual phones (in areas where automated testing is insufficient) - (15%)

The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree or higher with a minimum of 3 years work experience, proficient in at least two of the following languages: Perl, C/C++, Java, and experience with Linux and/or UNIX operating systems. Fluent English skills and business level Japanese is also required for this role.

・ Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a similar field
・ Minimum 2 years of software testing experience
・ Experience developing automation tools and frameworks
・ Experience with Linux and/or UNIX operating systems
・ Proficiency in at least two of the following languages: Perl, C/C++, Java
・ Knowledge of web applications to design and implement automated tests for the mobile sites worldwide
・ Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
・ Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work independently
