JUNIOR to PARTNER level positions are available.

Tokyo, as one of the major international financial and transaction centres of the world, has seen an increasing demand for top level Corporate and Commercial lawyers.

A significant number of the top tier international law firms are all represented here in Tokyo and there is a demand for top tier lawyers to join their practice groups.

Candidates should have at least 1 years experience in corporate and commercial transactions and fluency in Japanese is ideal, but necessarily essential for the right person.

A long term commitment to a career in Tokyo is vital, as is a willingness to assist the team to develop business for the practice.

Some large law firm experience (US/UK) is required. Candidates admitted in the US are preferred, however UK admitted lawyers will also be considered.

Candidates that have experiencing of transactions with China or the Middle East are also highly valued, especially if you have the relevant language skills.

Experience in cross-border (i.e. Japanese entities with non-Japanese entities) commercial contracting, including M&A, joint ventures, IP licensing, sales/distribution contracts and the like.

A candidate also having finance practice experience may be acceptable but must have solid grounding in aforesaid commercial project matters.

Our Banking & Finance Division services the full financial services industry from bulge bracket investment banks to retail banks and fund managers and is responsible for the recruitment of financial services executives, lawyers (both local and overseas admitted) at all levels from Legal Counsels through to Regional General Counsels, compliance officers at all levels from junior compliance officers up to Regional Heads of Compliance, also documentation officers, paralegals and mid-office personnel positions.
