Bloomberg News is seeking experienced reporters in its Tokyo office as follows.

Corporate Finance Reporter:

The job will be to cover all aspects of corporate finance, including corporate bonds, loans, derivatives such as credit-default swaps, and the mortgage-bond market. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of how bond spreads and credit swaps work. Candidates should expect to make contact on a daily basis with the market’s biggest investors and most prominent traders.


Japanese Government Bonds Reporter:

The job will be to cover Japan’s government bond market and trading of U.S. Treasuries in Asia in the Tokyo office.

This diverse and complex subject requires someone with a proven ability to see through the detail and translate market terminology into layman’s terms, making the news interesting yet understandable.


Finance Reporter:

The job will be to cover the activities of global banks and securities firms. Knowledge of the economy, financial markets and business is essential. The successful applicant will produce breaking news stories under real-time deadline pressure and write stories that are clearly written and comprehensive.


Consumer/Retail Reporter:

The job will be to cover consumer and retail products companies in Japan. The reporter will break news under tight deadlines, generate enterprise stories and profile the industry’s biggest newsmakers.


Technology Reporter:

The job will be cover technology, media and telecommunications companies in Japan. Industry knowledge is essential, and business reporting at a major newspaper or wire service is preferred.

*Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
*Journalism qualification is desirable.
*Journalism experience is essential.
*Experience of working in a real-time news environment is a plus.
